About Gabriela

Gabriela Rosa started dancing at an early age. Like most young girls she was first introduced to ballet but quickly became involved in other forms of dance. In 1995 and 1996 she was awared the Mercedes Molina bursary for most outstanding young dancer in South Africa and quickly progressed to become one of the youngest qualified teachers of Classical Greek dance and Flamenco for both the Spanish Dance Society and Alianza Flamenca.

Gabriela travels regurlarly to Spain. She has studied with inspirational teachers such as Antonio El Pipa, Belen Maya, Maria Magdalena, Domingo Ortega, Eva Yerbabuena, Carmela Greco, Manolo Marin, La Tati, Belen Fernandez, Rafaela Carrasco and Javier Latorre.

In 2000 Gabriela decided to relocate to Europe. This included an obligatory "stopover" in Madrid but she ended up staying there a year, further studying at the respected Amor de Dios studios.

Gabriela has performed in a range of productions, from tablao to theatre, and television. She was recently involved as choreographer and dancer in Flamenco Tablao at the Edinburgh Festival 2008.

Besides dance, Gabriela also studied kung-fu and piano (Trinity College grade 8). She also holds degrees in law and psychology.
