Thank you ...

...for all the warm wishes received on the birth of my daughter Elodie (April 2006). As you may appreciate she's been keeping me very busy and I've not been able to respond to emails as diligently as before. I also hope to be back dancing soon, starting with a performance with Eclipse this summer. Please keep checking the schedule for updates.

... and to all those who continue to donate so generously to the Gumboots foundation following their involvement at the Journey In Dance show. Donations are very welcome and are used to directly support their community and schooling projects in South Africa.

About Gabriela

Gabriela started dancing ballet at the age of six. At seven she was introduced to classical Greek and three years later she entered the world of Flamenco and Spanish Regional Dance.

In 1995 and 1996, she was awarded the Mercedes Molina bursary for most outstanding young dancer in South Africa and quickly progressed to become a qualified teacher of the Spanish Dance Society (SDS), Alianza Flamenca (AF) and Classical Greek.

In 2000 Gabriela decided to relocate to the UK. This journey included a "stopover" in Madrid where she ended up spending a year dancing at the Amor de Dios studios before finally arriving in London.

As a qualified teacher of both SDS and AF, Gabriela has taught in Johannesburg and London. She has performed in a range of productions, from tablao to theatre, and television.

Gabriela has studied Flamenco in Jerez and Madrid with the inspirational and generous Antonio El Pipa, Belen Maya, Maria Magdalena, Domingo Ortega, Eva Yerbabuena, Carmela Greco, Manolo Marin, La Tati, Belen Fernandez, Rafaela Carrasco and Javier Latorre.

Besides dance, Gabriela has studied kung-fu and has passed the grade 8 piano examination of Trinity College, London. She also holds degrees in law and psychology.
