Alianza Flamenca is a non-profit association that has been formed to develop and encourage a broader understanding of the art of flamenco, particularly flamenco dancing.

It provides a method of instruction through a guiding syllabus of 7 levels and promotes the highest possible standard of teaching and dancing outside of Spain.

Progression through the syllabus will equip dancers with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to participate with confidence in dance classes in Spain, the source of the Flamenco art form.

The designers of the syllabus have all learned and danced extensively in Spain and continue their studies by attending master classes with leading exponents of flamenco to keep abreast of the latest developments in this art form. They have pooled their knowledge in order to train dancers and teachers.

Alianza Flamenca was formed in 1995 and the first assessments were held at the end of that year in Johannesburg, where the head office is based at present. Membership extends to Europe and Australia.
